But Stom, the man she’s been awarded to as a battle honor, has no use for a female, not when his heart is still in a million pieces.

Though the need to be Stom’s mate is overwhelming her, mending his heart isn’t going to be enough. His enemies are searching, looking for the women who are more than they seem, and she’s in their hands before she discovers she’s more-than-human.

Sometimes it sucks to be a chosen one.

  excerpt

She stood. Anger tore her up. The next words blurted out before she could stop herself. “Fuck you.”

Ally might be wondering why she was out here. Forget this asshole.

“Wait. Willow.” He shot upright and grabbed her hands then added in his rumbly voice that shivered deep inside her, “You need to believe me.”

When she tugged and tugged, and couldn’t get free, her anger, stupidly, drained away.

He stared down at her like he could drive his words into her very soul. “Believe. You must believe me. Run away, fast. Go tomorrow.”

She swallowed, petrified, but not of him holding her. The fear was of what he meant, of how he was distorting her reality. Somewhere in what he said, she sensed truth and a world of horrendous and incalculable wrongness.

“I can’t.” Her words sounded so squeaky. “I have Ally. She needs me.” Tears wet her eyelids and she trembled. “I can’t leave.”

It would take her weeks to convince Ally. Months to sell the house. She had no spare cash, nowhere else to go, and why was she even contemplating all this?

Then he leaned in and kissed her. He wrapped his big solid, man-heavy arms around her, fairly crushing her to him, and kissed.

A shudder of lust slammed into her every cell. A volcanic explosion might, barely, have had the same effect. She opened her mouth and found he was already taking advantage of that small concession – nipping, licking and pushing his tongue inward past her lips. His wide thigh had somehow nudged her legs apart. His male scent assaulted her as much as the feel of him taking of her what he wanted.

Goose bumps swept across her skin in a chill wave that seemed to sensitize every tiny hair on her body.

Welcome to Darkest Cravings, tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m Australian and I write a huge mixture of genres, compared to many romance writers.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

Probably when I received my first contract from Lyrical Press, who have since merged with Kensington. That’s perhaps 4 years ago.

Writing adult fiction isn’t for everyone, how did you end up writing for the toughest audience?

I began writing picture books and moved up the chain to juvenile, young adult, and then I tried YA and finally I found my home in erotic fiction. I was never comfortable in YA even, as I felt I was holding back and filtering myself. Plus I could see the audience for erotic fiction was far larger in the ebook market.

Most of the intimidating parts of being an adult fiction writer are the steamy scenes, how did you overcome the “stage fright”?

I just wrote it. Lol I was aware of being daunted at the time, knowing others would read it, but I forged onward. I’ve always been good at describing scenes so to me writing sex scenes was just another description of an action scene.

I spoke about this in my ancient post on how to write sizzling hot sex, which is a tab on my website. http://www.carisilverwood.net/writing-erotic.html

Which fictional character would you like to go on a date with? Why?

Sten from my Lust Plague story. It was a steampunk romance. I wrote it a while ago but he had the best sense of humor of all my heroes and right now that would be nice.

What was the first adult fiction novel that you read? What was your reaction?

It was an Ellora’s cave anthology called Bad Girls...something lol Do it Better? I’m not sure. It was actually at the library. I read it and was surprised at how erotic it was but I also thought I could probably write better plots.

Your favorite adult fiction book is-?

If I include books that aren’t straight erotic romance. Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey. If true erotic romance then either Cherise Sinclair’s Club Shadowlands or Joey Hill’s Ice Queen.

Your favorite Author is-?

Right now I’m not reading erotic romance so I guess Terry Pratchett.

We all have a treasured possession, what is yours?

I have small artworks on tables but the most treasured would be a painting done by my daughter when she was ten that won a local award.

Are your characters based on real people or did you create them from scratch?

Mostly from scratch, from ideas. Klaus in my Pierced Hearts series is the one character based somewhat on a real person.

Do you think adult fiction has reached its full potential yet, or are we still in for a huge surprise?

I think women are still exploring fantasies. Self-published ebooks can go where no publisher is courageous enough to go. At the moment we’re beginning to feel free to express the darker fantasies that make us wonder if we’re wrong for having them, and finding out we’re not the only ones with them in our heads. I think it shocks some men to see what women sometimes dream about.

Do you think adult fiction helps improves relationships?

I think it can, for sure. I think it’s more likely to do that than cause problems.

If you have to pitch adult fiction to someone that’s too shy to read it, what would you pitch?

Like any fears – and if they want to but are too shy, it’s a fear – I’d start with something mild and slowly suggest hotter reads.

What is your motto?

Try everything once, unless it’s going to hurt too much. :)
