Welcome to Darkest Cravings, tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm a fantasy author currently being published by Harper Collins' imprint Harper Voyager. My latest novel Covenant is book number two in a series called The Books of Raziel. The first book in the series is called Archon.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

Officially?

Probably not until I was in college. I always like to write before that but usually did just for fun, for myself. It wasn't until I took one or two creative writing courses in college that I realized I had such a passion for storytelling.

Writing adult fiction isn’t for everyone, how did you end up writing for the toughest audience?

By adult fiction, I'm assuming you mean more erotic type fiction? I don't write erotic fiction, persay, but I've been told some of the scenes and situations in Archon are a bit eyebrow raising at times. But with this series I have had to take the less is more approach, and I cut away to another scene when certain things are going on. It is a cross-over YA novel after all.

Most of the intimidating parts of being an adult fiction writer is the steamy scenes, how did you overcome the “stage fright”?

Whenever I have to write a scene for a novel that might make my family blush, I step back and ask myself how much it helps and moves the story along. That helps me to stop hesitating sometimes!

Which fictional character would you like to go on a date with? Why?

I'm married. My husband would be jealous. He might be reading this . . . lol

What was the first adult fiction novel that you read? What was your reaction?

I haven't actually read an erotic novel before. But I've read certain fantasy books with scenes that were a bit on the shocking side.

Your favorite adult fiction book is-?

This connects to the previous question, so . . .

Your favorite Author is-?

This is a very difficult question to answer. I don't have one single favorite author as much as there are many authors that have influenced me over the years, and since I write fantasy, we are talking Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, etc.

We all have a treasured possession, what is yours?

My engagement ring, definitely.

Are your characters based on real people or did you create them from scratch?

They're all the products of my insane, wild imagination. Considering what goes on in the story, that's definitely for the best!

Do you think adult fiction have reached its full potential yet, or are we still in for a huge surprise?

I couldn't really say since I am not well-read in the genre, but judging by the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey and books similar too it, I'd say the genre is well on its way to having a wider audience.

Do you think adult fiction helps improves relationships?

I've heard it can. I suppose this depends on the status of a relationship at the time!

If you have to pitch adult fiction to someone that’s too shy to read it, what would you pitch?

Well, I'm usually too shy to read it, so you'll have to tell me. lol

What is your motto?

Take one day at a time. Today's worries are enough. It's the secret to a peaceful life.
