Authorcage

Time for author cage. Today author Elena M. Reyes for an interview. Elena is the author of today’s book blitz Marking Her. Thanks for being here Elena.

Are you ready??

Welcome to Darkest Cravings, tell us a little bit about yourself?

Let’s see…I’m a sassy, loud, and proud Cuban/Dominican that lives in central Florida with her husband and son. I married my high school sweetheart and will be celebrating sixteen years together this year. I love the ocean and miss having it fifteen minutes from my home, and oh, I love writing smut.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

I think it finally hit me when my first novella, Ardor, was published. It was a sweet moment for me, to see it up on Amazon for sale made me cry…and, I might have puffed out my chest and strutted a bit too.

Writing adult fiction isn’t for everyone, how did you end up writing for the toughest audience?

It’s no secret that I loved Twilight and still write fan fiction when I can. That’s a tough and honest audience. They took me in and loved my fics, gave me criticism when I needed it and helped me become the writer I am today.

Most of the intimidating parts of being an adult fiction writer is the steamy scenes, how did you overcome the “stage fright”?

My first attempt at writing a steamy scene was in a Twilight drabble years ago. In 100 words or less chapters, I had to get it done. Be creative about the words I chose and stay within this perimeter…it helped. Took me hours to get it right, but it broke my smutty cherry and helped calm my nerves for the next time I needed my character’s to ravish each other.

Which fictional character would you like to go on a date with? Why?

Edward Cullen. I want to corrupt that good boy.

What was the first adult fiction novel that you read? What was your reaction?

It was one of those harlequin stories with Fabio on the cover that my cousin was obsessed with. Honestly, it wasn’t sexy to me at all. I laughed more than anything else.

Your favorite adult fiction book is-?

Too many to pick, but these are my favorites:

Real by Katy Evans.

Breach by K.I. Lynn.

To Serve is Divine by R.E. Hargrave.

Blood Flows Deep in the Empire by N. Isabelle Blanco.

Your favorite Author is-?

All the ones mentioned above…they each bring something unique to the table in their genre.

We all have a treasured possession, what is yours?

A cabbage patch set of dolls my deceased grandparents gave me when I was young. I was very close to them and it’s all I have left, of the things they gave me over the years.

Are your characters based on real people or did you create them from scratch?

If my family or friends ever read my books, they would kill me. I use real life people, certain character traits in all my works. From my husband’s lack of filter, to the stupid conversation, my brothers have between themselves that only they understand. J

Do you think adult fiction have reached its full potential yet, or are we still in for a huge surprise?

I think we are still waiting. Sexually we aren’t all as aware as we think we and there’s still so much left to explore… push the envelope of shock and awe.

Do you think adult fiction helps improves relationships?

Pardon my French, but fuck yes. Women in general don’t all live these horny fairy tales we depict in our work, but want too. They learn and become curious about certain subjects that before were taboo, but are now common knowledge. It helps them find a voice and ask for what they want out of their partners instead of staying mousy and quiet. We are more accretive now in the bedroom because of this genre than ever before.

If you have to pitch adult fiction to someone that’s too shy to read it, what would you pitch?

I did once and it only took a few words to convince her… dominant male, sex, and huge cock. She was all over what I recommended like white on rice and is now a bigger perv than me!

What is your motto?

I don’t have one, but if I had to choose one it would be YOLO. You only live once…be happy, chase your dreams, and don’t let others stop you. You are your biggest obstacle, get through your fears and nothing can stop you.
